Age 3 months
By the age of 3 months, baby should be
able to hold a rattle, hold head up, hold his
weight on his legs for a short time.
Verbally, should be able to hold vowell
sounds, laugh, different cries for different
needs.
Should know the difference between
parents and strangers, show recognition
face and voice, smile on recognition. Follow
objects with his eyes, turns toward a loud
sound.
Baby should be sleeping through most
nights somewhere between 3 and 6
months, but its still common for them to
wake in the middle of the night.
Teeth begin to appear 4-8 months.
Age 6-9 months
sits without help, picks up objects with
thumb and forefinger, can feed himself and
drink from a cup,
understands object permanence, and that
an object might be behind another,
jabbers, makes longer sounds,
experiments with volumes and pitches.
'Mama' and 'Dada' to the correct parent.
makes facial expressions, responds to his
name, raises arms to be picked up, like his
reflection.
The child should begin to crawl, and some
will actually be able to walk by 8 months.
Be sure to block off stair with a baby gate,
and put breakable and dangerous objects
out of reach. Put baby locks on those and
cover up open electrical outlets.
Age 9-12 months
excellent crawler, can stand and walk with
help, without help by 12 months.
understands basic commands, want to
explore by touching, want to stack.
says simple words, and mimics sounds,
points to what he wants, likes games
The child's weight will be nearly triple his
brith weight
