1. Work out your budget, schedule and routine
a. Estimate clothing and supplies, here is a good list

2. Prepare the room and the house
a. Make sure the crib meets requirements (slats no more than
2 3/8 inches apart)
b. Make sure the house is child proof
c. Examine the house from the babies point of view
3. Talk to your spouse and doctor about what you will do in the
event of downs syndrome or other birth defect.
4. Get an approved car seat, make sure it fits properly in the
back seat of your car.
5. Attend a newborn care class, your doctor should be able to
recommend one.
